In response to past student feedback, this year BUST will feature two separate 4-week camps with different focuses. Skills Camp will focus on learning circus skills - acrobatics, stilt walking, aerial fabric, trapeze, clowning, and more - and is open to both beginner and intermediate students. Performance Camp is targeted at students who have an existing skill set in circus arts who want the opportunity to create acts for a theatrical circus production. The camp will include performance skills classes, professional guidance for act creation, supervised rehearsal and open studio time, and show production. Students will work within an existing script (written by two past BUST students) to create original acts in their chosen discipline(s). The camp will culminate in a full-scale performance on July 2nd and 3rd. Students must have participated in a past BUST workshop (and/or 2010 Skills Camp) in order to participate in the Performance Camp. Sorry, no exceptions.
Workshop Fees:
Skills Camp: Fee for the four-week Skills Intensive is $475. $100 non-refundable deposit due with registration form. This tuition covers 50+ hours of circus instruction and planning by professional circus artists and teachers, use of quality equipment and space, as well as a priceless experience in self discovery, strength building and community! $425 Early Bird discount if registered by April 1st, 2010. Registration ends May 1st. Work Trade and Partial Scholarships available. Scholarship applications due by April 1st, 2010.
Performance Camp: Performance Camp is only $275! $50 Non-refundable deposit due with registration form. Our Performance camp this year is being offered at a considerably reduced price to allow it to be more affordable for everyone. However, to keep it affordable we are asking all of the participants to also be apart of the fundraising efforts to make the camp happen. We will be utilizing a fundraising model called Kickstarter. With this program we are asking that all of the participants reach out to friends and family and ask for pledges and donations of support for the camp. We need to raise $3000 to be able to hold this camp.
